mastered six strings silently
then emerged in new york city
for my cafe days to begin

then from sin-e to the world's stage

for the next sound to begin
so I called up my friend Tom
sketched out sweethearts for a drunk
with my four-track by my side
demon john and a big ol' trunk

waded into the stronger tides
